In September 2008, I finally had my trumpet professionaly repaired by Rich Ita of Brass Instrument Workshop. The repairs included a chemical cleaning, polishing, valve alignment, dent removal, and reshaping of the bell. As you can see, the horn looks almost brand new. Actually, I don't think it was this shiny when I first bought it! While the horn plays wonderfully now, I do miss the old tarnished look. I'm sure it will return soon enough.
The photos and notes shown below were originally written in 2004. This is how my trumpet looked during the initial period of my return to trumpet playing (2002-2008).

I've had this trumpet since 1987. It's the first and only quality horn that I've ever owned.
Specs: Model 37, Bach Stradivarius, serial# 271641

I once lent this horn to a friend of mine (during my 7 year period of not playing). That friend apparently left the trumpet on the floor one night... and then stepped on it. Afraid to show me the damaged horn, the friend had it repaired (if that's what you want to call it) without my knowledge. The swollen bell is a constant reminder of that tragic event...

Another reminder: When repaired, something happened to the surrounding finish as seen in the reddish color near the bell bracing. You may also notice that a sizeable dent still exists near the bracing.
